Against teams of the calibre of France, England and Croatia, we will certainly
be tested. France are full of world-class players, England are always dangerous
and Croatia are technically strong. We have a tough task ahead but not an
impossible one.
Very much. It's our good fortune that we start against Croatia and not
France or England. If we begin with a win, we will have a solid platform
to build on. It is our game of the year.
Big football nations like France, Italy and Spain look good. Probably the
French will be the team to beat. We lost to them in Geneva at the start
of the season and they gave a wonderful display.
I was impressed by the Greeks when we lost to them in a warm-up game. I
wouldn't underestimate them. Their German coach Otto Rehhagel is a great
organiser and he has some very skilful, quick players.
I prefer to put the emphasis on the team unit. We have talented individuals
but everyone has to show the right tactical discipline and spirit.
Normal. While there has been a lot of euphoria in the country at large,
the media have not built up expectations so we do not feel under excessive
pressure.
It is not the best of situations but I'm not panicking. All I can do is
hope that the players get the match practice they need or recover in time
for the big day.
At times we give the ball away too easily. We must be more precise in our
passing and look to control the game better.
I have a team with lots of belief and desire. We do not go to Portugal as tourists. I'm proud of the spirit of my lads. They don't let their heads drop.
