With Luis Suarez not playing, the opportunity arose for the Real Madrid striker to return to the summit.

Cristiano Ronaldo returned to the top of the ESM Golden Shoe standings when he scored his 24th goal of the season in Real Madrid’s 3-0 win over Levante.

The Portuguese striker is now level at the top of the rankings with Luis Suarez who, with Liverpool not in action this weekend, enjoyed a well-earned break.

Meanwhile, PSG’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Heerenveen’s Alfred Finnbogason continued their excellent seasons, scoring against Bastia and PEC Zwolle respectively, That’s 23 for the season for the prolific duo.

Elsewhere, Mario Mandzukic makes his first appearance in the top ten this season. The Croat forward struck twice in Bayern Munich’s 6-1 thrashing of Wolfsburg on Saturday.

Rules

Only the leading five countries – Spain, Italy, Germany, England and Portugal – in the UEFA rankings have two as their multiplier. This is to emphasise the difference in (international) performance level between clubs from those countries and those of other nations.A player cannot play first in a summer league (e.g. Norway) and then in a winter league (e.g. Spain) and combine the points totals for each season.
