On Friday we looked ahead to the weekend’s games and asked the following questions…

GERMANY

Will either of Germany’s struggling giants be felled this weekend?
Hamburg’s defeat at Stuttgart leaves them staring into the abyss. Even a victory in their final match of the season against Schalke may not be enough to prevent relegation for the first time in the club’s history.

For Stuttgart, a team which has spent only two seasons outside the top flight, the win brought some relief, but their position too, remains perilous.

FRANCE

Will PSG claim a hat-trick of titles?
Victory over Montpelier secured a third successive title for Laurent Blanc’s side. Having established themselves as the pre-eminent club in France, the challenge for thr free-spending Parisian outfit next season will be to make progress on the continental stage.

ITALY

Is the axe about to fall on Cagliari?
Cagliari’s defeat at home to Parma condemned the Sardinian outfit to relegation from Serie A. They will join Parma and Cesena in Serie B next season.

SPAIN

Will Barcelona win the Spanish title at home of reigning champions?
Barcelona’s fantastic second half of the season earned its just rewards on Saturday night when a 1-0 win at reigning champions Atletico Madrid secured the league title for Luis Enrique’s side. A remerkable run which began in January against the same opponents, has seen the newly-crowned champions collect 52 points out of a possible 57.

ENGLAND

Will Steven Gerrard’s Anfield career end on a high?

Sadly for Gerrard and his many Liverpool admirers, the midfielder’s final match at Anfield turned into something of a damp squib. A 3-1 home defeat to a Crystal Palace side with nothing but pride to play for, was not the way Gerrard would have chosen to end his Anfield career.
