African Nations Championship

CAF have Announced a new international tournament for African nations for 2009. The difference is only players plying their trade in their home country can compete. The first host will be Côte d'Ivoire.

Seems like a pretty decent idea.

I hadn't heard about it before so thanks for bringing it to my attention.

My only concern from an African perspective would be that it will probably be a magnet for European club scouts keen to snap up any player they've already missed...
