When someone is in a job as long as Wenger you'll easily find signings that can be criticised, perhaps moreso when that manager tries to sign cheaper players with potential. But then what are the worst signings: Cygan and Jeffers or Djemba-Djemba and Veron? Likewise, the worst sales: Upson and Bentley, or Forlan and Stam?
There's no doubting Wenger has been a fantastic manager, but he does make some strange decisions. I was shocked Bentley was allowed to leave, but not surprised he wanted to given the lack of opportunities. Likewise now with Walcott. As a Southampton supporter I was lucky enough to see most of Theo's early games, and have no doubt he is more than ready to start regularly in Arsenal's team. Maybe Wenger is right and he can become a striker, but that is not for now. He needs to be running at people, as he illustrated so perfectly at Anfield. On the right wing he adds balance, pace, skill and he will contribute goals and assists whereas players such as Lennon promise much with little end product. He is a huge asset for Arsenal and will no doubt be the same for England very soon. He's always been very mature for his age, and if you think he's too young now you haven't seen him play enough. It's rare to get such composure combined with such pace, and that needs to be utilised, not held back in reserve.
