Werder Bremen
      #359 - 06/08/2006 13:49

They are my faves for the league this year granted they Lost imporant playmaker in Micouid but with Fritz from Leverkusen,Diego from Porto and maybe Mertsecker as well i see them doing it plus with Borowski and Klose as well they are the best attacking team in the Bundersliga.

strongest lineup.4-1-2-1-2

Wiese

Fritz
Mertesecker.if he comes if not it be Farenhorst
Naldo
Wome

Baumann
Frings
Diego
Borowski

Klose
Klasnic

Key man.Borowski

Was his coming out party last year in the league scored 12 goals from midfield outstanding he was. if he has the same impact this year with Frings,Klose and Klasnic then Werder should go one step higher this season.

Player to watch.Zidan

This young forward was at Mainz last season and was fantasic he won't start for Werder this year but if he gets is chance watch out because he could be very special.

Werder Bremen beat Bayern Munich 3-1 at home in the German Bundesliga this weekend, and certainly they were the better side on the day. Diego is looking more and more like his old self, the sort of world class player that he was at Santos just a few years ago. This Brazilian is on the rise and how!

On friday,Bremen thrashed Mainz 6-1 away from home, and at least in the German Bundesliga, they're showing desire and form. I am higly impressed with the tricjy Brazilian Diego who is looking more and more like his old Santos self. You know,I am getting this crazy notion that now that Bremen lead the table in Germany, maybe, just maybe, this could be their season!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

And Diego's now been called up to the Brazil squad! Looks like Dunga reads the World Soccer forum... good work lobbying, you two!

It's great to hear that Diego has finally managed to enter the Brazilian national squad. He's such a creative midfielder, and having watched him play for Santos(though not regularly I admit),I have always felt that his creativity and vision merged with his tricks would certainly make him a huge target in the European transfer market. He's still young, isn't he? Life in Europe to him now just settling.

Last night Bremen best Levski Sofia 3-0 in the Champions League and now lie second behind Chelsea with 7 points,3 ahead of Barca. Can they knock the defending European champions out of this season's competition? Or maybe even Chelsea. I dare not to even think about it,I really don't.

I think Chelsea will rest players away to Werder so i think Werder will beat them then Barca will have a hard game vs Werder and they might get a draw as well.

The next Chelsea game is against Bremen, isn't it? Mourinho might rest players, and yes it could boil down to the game between Barca and Bremen at Camp Nou. Now that would be a belter!

First of all Borowski isn´t THE key player of Werder Bremen. Of course, he is verzy important for the team, but for example Frings, Klose and the captain Baumann are much more important at the moment. Especially considering the fact that Borowski has been injured for over 2 weeks by now. Vranjes replaces his very well.

And a second important fact on Werder is that Klasnic was replaced by 20 year old german striker Aaron Hunt. Having scored the same number of goals as Miroslav Klose (4) he is in a fantastic form. The number 3 striker is Hugo Almeida who returned to the portugiese national team and scored 2 goals during the season.

Werder Bremen is head of the german table with 23 points and an average of 3 scored goals each games.(overall 30)

In the Champions Leage Bremen is at the second position at the moment behind Chelsea with a good chances of reaching the quarter finals.

Sorry for grammatical or typing mistakes, my english is bad.

greetz william

I done this review of Werder at the start of the season that is why Klasnic was a starter in this team. And i know Klose and now Diego are the best players at Bremen. but to me last season Borowski was amazing for them that is why i put him as a key player.

Welcome to the forum, William, and thanks for the 'update'. Are you from Germany, or just a close follower of the league there (and Bremen, obviously)?

Great to have a Bremen fan amongst us. William, will you keep on updating about Diego's performance? I have been a great admirer of that player since his time at Santos, and as he'as playing in the German Bundesliga,I don't get to watch him regularly. It would be brilliant should you keep us aware of his progress week by week.
