I remember that match against Birmingham. He was stunning in that. I also remember one pass in a CL match at Old Trafford, from midway inside our half, he hit a spinning volley about 60 yards up the pitch straight onto a sprinting-full-pelt Dwight Yorke's right foot. He is and always was class, but for me his place in our system never allowed him to show off what he was fully capable of, on a regular basis. I'll happily accept that 'next to useless' was a little bit harsh, though.
