As things stand I don't really know and then is it actually possible to know unless he moves to a big club (sorry THFC) that is fighting for the Championship and playing Champions League? Went to see Aston Villa v. Man. Utd. in FA Cup last week. To me Rooney had the hallmarks of getting towards a world class player, coming off the bench and giving his team the extra bit of class to win which Saha wasn't providing. Berbatov has a classy Kanu likeness about him at times and has put in some super performances but will the big Nigerian go down as world class? Think not. You see I don't think the empirical evidence is there for Berba yet and I'm unsure if it will come. I'll go to see N. Ireland v. Bulgaria on 6 Feb, just a shame it's only a friendly but looking forward to seeing him in action. Now there was another D.B. who used to ply his trade in North London. That was undisputed class. |

So far in his career, both in Germany and England, Berbatov has proven that he has remarkable technical and physical attributes. However, the truly great players, the ones that make history and are remembered long after their playing careers are over, are never Prima Donnas on the football pitch. One of the reasons that make them great and why they are able to do extraordinary things is that they understand and appreciate their teammates better than lesser players. Keep your attitude for the negotiating table or the press room son. |

to me he has all the talent in the world but his attitude lets him down.i remember him when leverkusen got to the champions league final but no big club come into sign him.if man u want him i remember alex ferguson saying he wanted his team to play with pace etc..after they got rid of ruuuuud and berbatov hasnt got any either but he will probably fit in as ronaldo and rooney will do all the running for him.he will be at old trafford next season im sure. |

just din't think he is good enough for man utd. not the kind of player man utd need, 12 goals in 33 league match is just not good enough for a player rated at roughy 20-30million. |

Quote: Welcome to the forum mate. Statiscally Dimitar Berbatov would just be what Manchester United needed but dont just take my word for it, look at the stats. Wayne Rooney's Manchester United Appearances 116, Goals 47. Avg strike rate 0.40. Louis Saha's Manchester United Appearances 81, Goals 27. Avg strike rate 0.33. Carlos Tevez' Manchester United Appearances 24, Goals 11. Avg strike rate 0.45. Dimitar Berbatov's Tottenham Appearances 62, Goals 39. Avg strike rate 0.62. Also this seasons League statistics have just Carlos Tevez having a better strike rate than Berbatov with 0.45 goals per game compared to the 0.40 of the Bulgarian. Rooney and Saha this season have 0.37 and 0.30 strike rate averages respectively. These stats clearly show that Berbatov has the better average strike rate. In my opinion the Bulgarian would only profit more in front of goal with improved quality around him and capturing his signature would be an amazing coupt for Ferguson. Lets face it, without the likes of Rooney, Tevez and Ronaldo how good would United actually be? Giggs, Neville and Scholes have been fantastic servants for the club but all are entering there twighlight years now. Carrick has been simply awful since his arriveal from Spurs and Darren Fletcher and Wes Brown would be lucky to get games for Everton's reserves. Harsh assessment i know, but without the three pronged attack in Tevez, Rooney and in particularly Ronaldo United would struggle, thats were Berbatov's presence would be of use. |

Ps.. Ignore my spelling mistakes in coupt (coup) and arriveal (arrival). |

He is pretty good, i admire his skills, but whenever he loses the ball, he does nothing. He gets frustrated when he loses it and he doesn`t show effort to take it back. I don`t expect him to track down players 90 minutes, but i think he should show more effort , more enthusiasm in the defensive part as well. |

If you don't love watching the man play when he's on form you either have an agenda or you don't like football. His touch is blasphemous and his passing and vision are serene. In terms of pure technique there is no one better outside of Spain and Italy. Yes he is lazy and does very little work off the ball. So what. Neither did Ronaldo, Baggio or Zidane. If he has a striker alongside him like Keane who runs all day it will have very little effect on proceedings. Besides, he is a creative player. You want him to be lucid, quick-thinking and composed when he's on the ball. He's not going to be those things if he's just ran 60 yards to close down a full back. And in addition to his immaculate technique he will also aggressively attack crosses. How many players give you that combination? Great player. |
