AFC Pro League
      #11440 - 27/03/2008 19:20

AFC looking to make a new competition startign in 2009, replacing the AFC Champions Legaue as we know it.

The new look competition, that will basically run along the same lines as the current champions league will only be open to professional leagues, hence the fact that my Asian nation Thailand would more tha likely miss out.

So guys, how do you feel that your nation or your team could miss out simply because they are not professional, hence if my nation Thailand went professional, each team would go bust within a year, but now we are being told we are not wanted.

What will happen to the upsets now, such as the superb Chonburi victory over Melbourne Victory?

Do you think a professioanl team from Singapore such as Super Reds could pull this off, or a team like East Bengal of India (who seem to be more favored) whom Chonburi could beat on a regular basis but if the plans go ahead they will be confined to playing teams from Yemen and Maldives every other week, with no disrepect to them, how could Chonburi keep there players who want to play at the highest level in Asia when they could jump ship to Singapore / Vietnam to play the big boys from Japan, Australia and Korea?

I understand what they're trying to do, but it seems a little unfair when you consider the way the competition has gone this year.

Uzbekistan, for instance, have one team that has topped its group (by a mile) and another that has done tolerably well, and yet they are going to have to play off for ONE spot in the western draw.
