If the creators - administrators of the forum are too busy, they can do what happens in many other forums all over the world: make one or two of the most involved members a moderator / administrator, with the ability to delete, edit and move posts, at his discretion, subject to norms of common sense, and answerable to the owners of the forum. It works very well, and helps to share the load.

I can 't predict anything right...I use rational thought, logic and careful deliberation...and get it all over the place

As posted elsewhere:
Apologies for this. We do seem to have been the victim of an number of spam attacks in recent weeks. I've been deleting the threads as well as banning the IP addresses of the people posting them, but they're a tenacious bunch.
I'll try and be more vigilant in future.

Thanks
There seemed to have been a decided lack of WS presence of late...even the Brian & Gavin columns seemed not to be updated.
Any thoughts on Rogorn's suggestion re moderators?

Holiday leave has been the reason for a lack of WS presence in recent weeks. That shouldn't be a problem from now on.
Regarding the suggestion of appointing a trusted contributor as a moderator I'm think that's a good idea. The only problem is that our parent company are very strict when it comes to allowing access to any of our sites. I personally don't think it would be an issue, but I'll need to get approval before giving the go ahead. There's no guarantee that it will be granted but there's no harm in asking.

I don't know how this particular site works from the point of view of an Admin, but in most forums you can limit the Moderator's powers as much as you want by ticking a few boxes, so the access to the inner working of the site would still be very limited. The simple ability to delete posts, edit them (only to remove offensive statements or spam) or move threads from one folder to another should be enough. In other words, a Moderator can treat all posts as if they were all his own posts. They can't create folders, and of coures they can't see the private messages of the members. The power to ban IPs and other punishments should still reside with the Admin-owners.
