Who has "Beckhamitis" if not Mr. Glanville? Beckham has been his obsession for some time now. England generally played like a team bereft of confidence. This is a department where Beckham, despite his other arguable limitations, is not lacking.

Sadly, octogenarianism also causes senile dementia in one in three people and it would appear that Brian Glanville is the one. Symptoms include repetition of words, phrases and whole statements again and again. So it is of no surprise to me that, having visited this site for the first time in months as a Man City fan, I find that Mr Glanville has written yet another article repeating his previous utterings on Dr Sinawatra and our club in general and, having previously been very annoyed, I now just feel rather sorry for him. It would appear that Man City have been the lampoon of certain sections of the press for years and more so recently. However, it would appear that we now aspire to be top of the Greed is Good League in terms of sheer greediness and, as bad as many may think that to be, I can only smile at the expression on Sad Alex's face as he sees his scrimping deal for Berbatov being pulled out from under his feet like an Arabian carpet! As for Brian Glanville, when I was very young, I used to wait every month for World Soccer to come flying through the post box to read his articles on calcio and Italy. Now, I just think he is rather a sad old man who should really be put out to grass. Having said that, another common symptom of senile dementia is the ability of sufferers to be able to remember vividly things that happened in the distant past whilst being completely unable to recall recent events. And his article on the Italian World Cup winning team of 1982 was brilliant, especially for me as I was at the final. So, please, World Soccer, have him write for you about great yesteryear moments but keep him away from current events for which his memory does not serve him well and his opinions are somewhat.....well perhaps the less said about them the better.
