The Quietest Forum in the World??
      #12769 - 17/08/2008 17:22

Is this the quietest forum in the world?

I joined a few weeks ago expecting lively debate on a range of topics.

How wrong I was.

Looks like a handful of thread-starters make all the running, with virtually NOBODY joining in.

C'mon everybody, let's know what you're thinking.

I won't be hanging around much longer.

Well, one third of your own posts so far are to complain about that fact, don't you think? Try the Big Issue section or write answers to Mssrs Hamilton and Glanville's columns.

There is no question about it that this forum is on the quiet side to say the least. There is an awful lot of anonymous readers of threads but very little in the way of replies or indeed thread starters. This forum does pick up from time to time but it is rather difficult to get many involved for whatever the reason. Lets get more involved guys. PS.. It would be nice if the moderators would also fix the poll option.

There's plenty of people trying to plug their cheap nike jordans etc...

It was pretty busy round here while Euro 2008 was on...but it usually has quiet spells now and again...tends to be the case that 80% of threads will get no more than 3 replies and the remaining 20% get loads.

Throw some stuff in the mix...

The core of this publication should bring in more opinions but that would be wishful thinking on my part. I do know that I've read World Soccer for over 25 years... Forums are an art form and some of them world wide are not worth the time...

Practically everyone between 18 and 40 is either on Bebo or Facebook these days, so if someone stuck up pages on those plugging the magazine and the forum, you're bound to get a few dozen global soccer fans becoming regular members. It's a handy solution to the poll problem too.

I had similar hopes for the forum. The layout doesn't help. A phpbb forum or something similar would improve things immensely.
