Like Houllier, Benitez appears not to care that Liverpool give the ball away cheaply. It's impossible to develop a proper style of play like this. Only the Champions League win in 2005 and the boardroom battling have kept him in the job.

They have an exceptional spine to their team but down the flanks they are utterly mediocre, barren and bereft of creativity. Riera should help but it won't be enough. And I still don't see a team with the belief that they can win the league, nevermind the quality.
