Michael Bradley was one of the main reasons, according to the German press, for Borussia staying up this year. While he was mainly on the bench early in the season, he started every game since before the midway point of the season. Moreover, as a holding midfielder he was not expected to score as many goals (five in twenty eight appearances) as he did.
