Northern Ireland XI 0 Everton XI 2. Coleraine Sports Ground.
Everton: Turner, Irving, Rodwell, Lescott, Valente, Van der Meyde, Carsley, Anderson de Silva, Molyneux (Harpur 85), Johnson (Agard 66), Vaughan (Connor 72).Unused Substitutes: Stubhaug, Akpan, Stewart.
Goals: Vaughan 26, Agard 78.
Referee: Mr. M Courtney
Everton kicked off their pre-season campaign and enjoyed a a relatively comfortable run out against a Northern Ireland select 11
Andy Johnson back looked really sharp. He and his strike partner James Vaughan continued where he left off from last season up front.
He hit the post after 10 minutes with a snap shot from the edge of the box. Another effort from AJ produced a magnificent point blank save from Taylor that led to a corner. From the resulting corner Taylor dropped the ball under a challenge from Vaughan, Johnson poked the ball goal wards but was blocked on the line, but James Vaughan on his 19th birthday was there to lash the ball home to give the Toffees a deservingly goal lead.
Vaughan should have made it a brace when he headed wide from a superb cross from Nuno Valnte.
The Toffeemen brought two youngsters Agard and Conner in the place of Johnson and Vaughan and it was the newcomers who put the game to bed, It was the neat Anderson de Silva who put Conner clear on the right. He hit a lovely ball for Keiran Agard to finish off from close range.
The Toffeemen had one scare in the second half when the 16 year old Jack Rodwell cleared off the line after Turner was well beaten.
Everton's youngsters gave the fans a look at the future of the club. With the likes of Irving, Rodwell, Molyneux, Connor and Agard, the future looks good.

Everton: Ruddy, Hibbert, Stubbs, Dennehy, Boyle, Morrison, Neville, Vidarsson, Kissock, Jutkiewicz, Anichebe. Unused Substitutes: Jones, Densmore, Spencer, Hall, Downes, Barnett.
Goal: Jutkiewicz 56. Attendance: 3,612.
Referee: J Moss.
This earlier kick off at Bury's Gigg Lane had more of youthful look to the line up. Hibbert, Neville, Stubbs and Anichebe where the senior players in the starting line up and all eleven players that started the game ended it. One really bright prospect by the name of John-Paul Kissock wasthe pick of the players in the game that did not really get going although the blues started off brightly with Victor Anichebe forcing the keeper to touch his powerful effort wide after just 70 seconds.
The only goal of the game came from debutant Lucas Jutkiewicz heading what looked like a tame header over a the stranded keeper. Jutkiewicz who signed for the Blues from Swindon Town in march had an indifferent game and was guilty of missing a couple of his chances. Atrteta, beattie and Jagielka where not risked for either game after picking up slight knocks in training.
As for Kissock who operated down the left side of midfield and signed proffessional forms recently, this lad has been spoken of very highly on Merseyside over the past couple of years and turned in several fine performance's for the reserve team last season. He possibly could become a familiar player this season or possibly the season after but one things for certain, everyone will know about JP before long.

i watched the northern ireland game on setanta not very inspiring but i thought the forwards looked sharp and da silva looks ok but van de meyde still looks sluggish.how does beattie get injured in training so much?quality info by the way

Not sure why Beattie keeps getting injured, infact i would even go so far as to say i am not convinced he does get injured. He sadly seems out of place since he arrived on Merseyside and the sooner he goes the better. Middlesbrough are apparently tracking him. Pitty we could not have traded him in for Mark Viduka. All this coming from a man who has stood by Beattie believing he will come good but even i started losing patience with the former Southampton man.

i was one of the biggest defenders of beattie in the past expecting him to come good after his injuries especially his toe injury(come on).i made the decision last season to stop going to goodison due to watching beattie standing on the half way line chewing with a beer belly(a tiny bit harsh) getting 40000 while i payed a small fortune for a season ticket.i dont mean to sound harsh but isnt mark viduka another overpriced overwaged overweight premier league forward!

Mark Viduka went on a free, it would have just been his wages that would have been on the high side. Saying that, we would have got more out of the Aussie than Beattie's contribution of last season, that i am certain of. How did Beatts get on last season in terms of goalscoring??

Yes, it will be interesting how he gets on at St James Park, you never know Beattie may be on the opposing side in a big Boro v Newcastle North East derby!!!

if beattie is playing for boro they are goin down!!!they probably are anyway!!regards newcastle there team is full of injury prone players eg viduka,owen,dyer,given,carr,babayaro,butt(if hes still there)big sam will need his 147 backroom staff to keep them fit!

Big question mate. I am really hoping so but cant see it. When the Dutchman signed for the Blues i was so delighted. What has happened to my moment of elation of his signing to this date i cant explain. He has never looked fit since his arrival at Goodison and has been nicknamed in these neck of the woods as "Shandy" refering to his endless late nights he spends out in Liverpool City Centre. Whether he has been behaving himself of late, well i guess only time will tell and to see him consistantly performing well at Everton, that would be like a new signing for the club. Everyone knows Van Der Meyde has tons of ability, but once again only time will tell how he fares.

Stephen, Looking at your squad list.
Can you tell me anything about Lukas Jutkiewicz, i assume just another youth player not getting any games and Anderson Silva de França, is he the guy who was at Malaga on loan? And when did he make his one game for Everton?
I'm also surprised he can get a work permit or maybe he has found a Italian Grandmother?

Looking at the Wiki, Everton did with Anderson exactly what Arsenal are doing with Carlos Vela. "Parked him" in Spain until he became eligible for a Spanish passport & no longer needs a work permit.

Having been released by Southampton as a 14-year old, Jutkiewicz first rose to prominence in 2004, when he ended the Milk Cup tournament in Northern Ireland as top goalscorer - emulating the feat of Wayne Rooney who participated in the tournament four years earlier.
At the age of 17 Jutkiewicz was handed his professional debut, coming on as a substitute in a 2-1 defeat at Swansea's Liberty Stadium in April 2006. A week later he was handed his first start, when he gave a hard-working performance in a 2-1 win at Scunthorpe.
Eager to hold on to the young star, manager Iffy Onuora promised Jutkiewicz a professional deal, despite him still having a year of his scholarship remaining - but doubt was cast over the deal when Onuora was sacked and replaced with new boss Dennis Wise during May. When Jutkiewicz had no contact with Wise over the summer, he admitted he was "slightly concerned" about his deal - but any fears were dispelled when he signed a three year contract in July 2006.
Jutkiewicz was patient for his introduction to the first team in 2006/2007 but finally made his first league start of the season in Swindon's 2-0 defeat to Mansfield. The next game, against top of the table Walsall, saw Jutkiewicz score his first senior goal to guide Swindon Town to an impressive victory. Jutkiewicz went on to score four more goals during the 06/07 season to help the club gain promotion to League 1.
Everton FC
In March 2007, Jutkiewicz signed a pre-contract agreement with Everton for a rumoured fee of £500,000 rising to £1,000,000 on appearances.[1] He joined up with the club for pre-season training in July 2007 and was handed the number 27 shirt - previously worn by Peter Clarke.
On 13/7/07 Lukas rapped the game up for Everton agianst Bury scoring a goal on his debut. (Info from Wikipedia).
As for Anderso Da Silva, badgerboy is correct on is knowledge on how Everton brought him through, that similar to Carlos Vela. Da Silva made an 88th minute appearance against Charlton Athletic in the 2-1 victory at Goodison Park.

Everton Transfer Talk
Everton have opened up talks with Switzerland international captain Johann Vogel over a possible move to Goodison Park.
Anyone got any thoughts on the player in question??

regarding the squad lists isnt it amazing there is no number 1,2 or 3.personally i would like them to get vogel at least its another player i think he was at ac milan but didnt play to much but if hes captain of a a national side he must be ok and he is a free transfer could be a quality signing.i was goin to say the other day moyes always seems to come up with players no one is looking at.
