Stephen

Is this your own personal list of Everton Greats?

And if not whose copyright are you infringing by publishing them all here?

I'm sure even if you're making your own ranking then the information on each player is coming from some other source. Why not just post a link to the relevant pages?

Either way how does a "great" like Dixie Dean only get ranked at 95?

Please tell me it's not the result of some survey of current Everton fans with the likes of "Big Dunc" somewhere high on the list.

The list is not in any particular order. It is entitled 100 Everton Greats, not the "Top 100" Everton Greats. Obviously, Dixie Dean would be number one if it was listed in order of greatness. Also, the information i have has no relevant links to websites. As for copyrighting, were do you, me or anybody get their information from??? If you believe i am steeling copy written information, feel free not to view it. No, from now on, i will cease continuing the list, sorry to anyone who has gained enjoyment out of them.

Everton feel betrayed that midfielder manuel fernandes who spent last year on loan with the club and agreed to join everton for 6m and then he signed for valencia for 12.2m thats 6.2m more he will get it's all about the money.

I don't think its completely about the money. Valencia are a better team than Everton, so I know who I would rather join, regardless of cash.

With Yakubu in the bag, Moyes is being linked with Bolton's Kevin Nolan, Fulham's Papa Bouba Diop and Fenerbahce's Ghana captain Stephen Appiah.

Everton already have made an enquiry for Appiah and been told he is not for sale, which leaves Moyes scouring the market for before the transfer window closes on Friday with a reported £12 million still burning a hole in his pocket. Will Moyes unearth a gem of a signing come friday evening??

Barclays Premier League

Saturday 1 September 2007
Bolton Wanderers 1 ------- Everton 2
Anelka 55 -------------------- Yakubu 11
---------------------------------- Lescott 89

Referee: Peter Walton (Northamptonshire).
Bookings: Jagielka 27, Hunt 34, Lescott 47, Gravesen 73.

Attendance: 22,064.

Bolton: Jaaskelainen, Hunt (Davies 79), Meite, Cid (O'Brien 45), Samuel, Speed, Nolan, Alonso, McCann (Wilhelmsson 55), Diouf, Anelka. Sustitutes Unused: Al Habsi, Braaten.

Everton: Howard, Jagielka, Baines, Yobo, Lescott, Arteta, Carsley (Gravesen) , Neville, Pienaar (Osman ), Johnson, Yakubu (Anichebe ). Substitutes Unused: Wessels, McFadden.

The day Yakubu, Phil Jagielka and Steven Pienaar made their first starts for Everton will not be forgotten in a hurry. This was a magnificent victory and a thrilling Premier League contest.

There were a host of chances at either end in a flowing, thoroughly entertaining game. But it was the men in Blue who came out on top, thanks to an 89th minute header from Joleon Lescott. This was a game that had everything - including a dream start for record signing Yakubu. He gave the visitors the lead after just 10 minutes. Nicolas Anelka netted an equaliser early in the second half and Bolton had more than their fair share of opportunities to net again.

But so did the Blues. And it was they who showed the greater determination, winning it at the death. David Moyes' decision to put Yakubu straight into his starting line-up was vindicated inside the opening 11 minutes. Put whilst the Nigerian wasted no time in getting his name on the scoresheet for the Blues, his simple tap-in would not have been possible without the outstanding efforts of his new strike partner Andrew Johnson.

The England man showed exhilirating pace to explode beyond the Bolton defence as the Blues launched a lightning counter-attack. Having worked his way into the right side of the Bolton penalty area, he squared for Yakubu to turn the ball into the net at the back post from just six yards.

Bolton's response to falling behind was enthusiastic - as was the blatant dive from El Hadji Diouf as he attempted to fool the referee into awarding a penalty for a non-existent foul from Lee Carsley. The Senegal midfielder is no stranger to such controversy. Thankfully for Everton, referee Peter Walton was wise to it. And when Diouf was presented with a great opportunity to equalise from open play minutes later he contrived to fire high over the bar from close range.

This was proving an entertaining encounter, with Everton producing some neat football to counter-balance Bolton's determination to secure an equaliser. They got worryingly close six minutes before the break when Mikel Alonso, who had earlier forced Howard into a stunning fingertip save, produced a fierce drive wide on the left that clattered against the underside of the crossbar before being cleared to safety.

This was an even game flowing from one end to the other. And seconds later Jussi Jaaskelainen had to be alert to parry from a powerful Phil Jagielka header following an Everton corner. The second period continued in the same vein. But where as Bolton's efforts had amounted to nothing in the first 45 minutes, a thunderbolt volley from Nicolas Anelka in the 55th minute as he latched on to a headed clearance from Joleon Lescott levelled the scores, the ball rifling past Howard.

Everton were clearly rattled by that setback. And a Diouf cross in the 61st minute illustrated the problem, with Kevin Nolan allowed to ghost to the back post before weakly firing wide. But the arrival of Thomas Gravesen following his return to Everton and Leon Osman's presence galvanised the Blues, who had a penalty claim following a tumble involving Johnson turned away. The striker was then unlucky to Jaaskelainen get a touch to his back post effort after sprinting beyond the home defence. Howard was called upon again to make a great reaction save to deny Meite as the game entered the final quarter.

This was a thriller - with fans from both sides on the end of their seats. A blast from Jagielka in the 81st minute was blocked by Meite, with the Everton players claiming the defender used his hand. There was no question of illegality about the Blues' next chance - but after great work from Gravesen and Arteta, Osman managed to fire over from eight yards out. They were not made to pay for that miss though, thanks to Lescott's powerful downward header at the back post in the 89th minute. What a way to finish a great game of football.
