Had my thoughts on tonights game v Metalist Kharkiv but computer crashed. As i have work in the morning, i will postpone it but i can say. Referee was a joke, but we was worse. Two disputable pens but one being forced to be retaken after initially scoring, then another being skied over despite the same encroachment was a poor, poor refereeing decision.
This saying, Everton were poor and have only themselves to blame and once again, Mr Moyes tactically got it all wrong again. All to do in the return leg, and although i believe we will score an away goal. i feel we have blown our chances of progression. Maybe, it will be a blessing in disguise as we will more than likely embarrass ourselves. I really hope im am totally wrong here.

I also watched Everton v Metalist Kharkiv,Everton were good in the first half and had a hat full of chances to score Lescott scored to make it 1-0, but Metalist had two good chances to score as well.as for the second half it was very poor, and for the pens first one was not {A.Johnson} scored and had to rekake it and missed then the second one he shot over the bar and Metalist scored {Zeze} to make it 1-1.the referee was poor giving two red cards to Metalist and two pens to Everton.I Wonder what the away game is going to be like.good luck because it's not going to be easy.

That Metalist tie was so embarrassing on a number of levels. Apart from the fact that we couldn't organise a p*ss-up in a brewery and had to delay the kick-off for 30 minutes due to the ticketing fiasco, Moyes tactics were abysmal.
We play for half an hour against ten me and ten minutes against 9. Yet, rather than move the ball around and stretch them out wide, we hoofed long balls from the halfway line into the centre of the penalty area where all their players were located.
I know we had injuries but that's no excuse for being tactically inept. Also, why did we buy Jagielka if we're not ggoing to play him? Hibbert, a player I admire for his tackling and his attitude, cannot pass the ball. Opposing teams just let him have as much of the ball as possible, confident that they'll get it back within seconds. Why not put Jagielka there (or even Philip Neville)? Also, Yakubu already looks like he's not interested. I thought it was a strange purchase by Moyes and my fears look like being realised as he ambled around the pitch like a man who'd rather be somewhere else.

typical everton with the tickets remember villareal?even a league cup against preston was a fiasco and crewe in the gazza days.as for hibbert he is a good defender but his passing and crossing are very poor i would have neville at right back every time and jagielka seems to have been bought as a utility player and i see his best position as centre back in an injury crisis!with yakubu im sure he will come good and is not taking the p**s out of everton and realises were he is!

I have got to agree with you barney and steve31 on many points you have pointed out, however on the ticketing fiasco, it is still unclear who was at fault. Lets face it, if Uefa was the guilty party here, it would not be the first time this governing body made a mess of situations of this ilk. If it was Everton Football Club's fault, they should come forward and apologise. On the pitch v Metalist, we were dreadful and you are spot on, Moyes tactically was left wanting again in European competition. Instead of being patient, also looking to shut out Kharkiv in an attempt to keep a clean sheet, Moyes had the team playing far too eager to finish the job at the first attempt, much in the same way has he attempted in Bucharest three years ago, that backfired terribly.
Yakubu has you said, during the Metalist game at least, did not look interested, so much so that when Anichebe replaced him, the raw and much less experienced forward looked far more accomplished by doing the simple things in the game holding the ball up, controlling the ball well and spreadng the play, all of which Yakubu failed to do so. I have started to wonder whether we have signed another Beattie, or a Bakayoko. The one thing Moyes done for the best, was to drop Yakubu to the bench away to Aston Villa. That seemed to have had a positive affect in his overall work rate in the Carling Cup against Sheffield Wednesday.
Neville also struggled in the game and then away to Villa then was dropped to the bench at Hillsborough only to brought on at the start of the second half at right back to produce one of his best performances since he joined the club. On the second leg in Ukraine, i cant help feeling Everton will score first but Moyes will demand more goals only to fall apart at the back, instead of saying to his players "Keep cool now, and look to hit them on the break but remaining solid at the back. Only time will tell, but the one thing us Evertonian's can cling onto in hope, is that we have played more relaxed away from home thus far than at Goodison. One final point, Metalist Kharkiv are not as bad a team as many may have believed, and although Everton were and stlll are expected to go through, nothing should be taken away from the Ukranians.

It's getting ever so closer to tonights big match, and i can't help but feel that our European journey will end tonight. I just can't see us winning, possibly going out on the away goal rule tonight???

You are right to feel slightly weary but hopefully Collina has'nt come out of retirement to officiate our game at short notice. Seriously though, it is a tricky one for me as i have not been impressed with Everton this season. In all but two games, the blues have played below par. Yakubu looks sluggish and i am looking for a big improvement from him tonight. Neville also has struggled with his passing, both short and long of late although he has improved in the last two matches.
My heart tells me we will go through comfortably but my head says we will score the opening goal of the evening and then Moyes will tactically get it all wrong by demanding more goals, leaving us short at the back. One crumb of comfort i can give you is that we seem to be playing in a more relaxed frame of mind away from home and our away record proves so. Everton have lost just twice away from Goodison; a school boy error conceding a goal from a throw-in at Reading in a 1-0 reverse and defeat at Villa Park 2-0 in a game that both teams played poorly but Villa did deserve the three points on the day.
Arteta as to be at his best tonight and as good as Leighton Baines is going forward, he has to start learning to get back to his left back position once he is an advanced position after possesion is lost to the opposition. Onyekachi Nwoha looked far more accomplished than Yakubu in the first leg playing in a lone forward role while Marko Devic really impressed me. All-in-all, if Everton pull their sleeves up, they should progress but it promises to be a very anxious evening for the blues. "COME ON YOU BLUEBOYS".
