Yeah, you called it right mate in terms of predicting we would get something out of the game. I felt we would fall to defeat by the odd goal but was delighted i was wrong thanks to Cahill's superb leveller late on. It is a shame we have this International break coming up as we are one of the form teams. Sunderland at home next and three points is a must to get the momentum back and by then AJ will be back to strenghten the competition for places.

Worry not, Arteta is going nowhere. The media have now got to turn their attention to other's now. It was Andy Johnson moving here and there but now he as signed a new deal, another player is targeted for speculation. I do however feel Arteta will end his career in Spain but in the meantime, we can purr at his skills in the famous royal blue shirt for the next five years or so. Lets not also forget, Mikel also recently signed an extension on his contract and even though these contracts are never set in stone, i fully expect the Spaniard to honour the club.

Hickson in Hospital
Everton legend Dave Hickson suffered a massive heart attack this afternoon at Goodison Park prior to the match and was rushed to the Royal Liverpool Hospital. Hickson who also played for both Liverpool and Tranmere amongst others famously said "I would break every bone in my body for any club i played for, but i would die for Everton". What a guy, what a lovely man you would find him if you had the privilege of meeting him. Thoughts our with his family this evening, praying you will get well soon mate.

Sad news about Dave Hickson.
On a happier note. I think Moyes has built the best Everton side since the 1980s. I think we're one, possibly 2 players, short of being a really strong side. Also, there's competiton for places that we haven't had in a very long time. But, perhaps more importantly, we're starting to play some decent football for the first time under Moyes. Long may it continue.

With Alan Stubbs taking charge of the Reserves 5-1 win at Wigan last night, is this a sign that the Kirkby born defender will become Assistant Manager at the club. Or will Andy Holden step up a level leaving Stubbs to vacate a permanent position as reserve team coach? Lets see what develops!!

With just a few hours remaining, Everton entertain Zenit St Petersburg at Goodison Park needing just a point to progress to the knock-out stages of the UEFA Cup regardless of the result at AZ. David Moyes firmly believes Zenit are the strongest team in group A and i tend to agree with the gaffer despite many saying how good AZ Alkmaar are. With home advantage for the toffess, qualification should by achieved this evening and i am going to stick my neck out and predict a narrow, tense 2-1 home win with Andrew Johnson scoring anytime during the game.
Very much akin to what righteous has stated over Peterborough's passing being of a high standard, the blues from merseyside have once again started to show what they are capable of in that department and hopefully the lads can display this infront of the television camera's tonight to suprise a few more doubters wrong. Despite this game being screened live on itv4, tonight's encounter is a complete sell out which is great news.

Group won, lucky with penalty that we missed in any event and sending off made the game more difficult for Everton in a strange way. A lot of credit goes to Zenit but i feel we would have won 11 v 11. We will never now because of bad refereeing decision but how many bad decisions have gone against Everton in recent years?? .The most annoying thing was Jim Beglin and his obvious biased comments, he must be the founder member of the St Petersburg appreciation society. Townsend and Earle were no better. Hoping the remaining Everton games are live on channel 5. Roll on the next stage.
