From what I remember Bill Kenwright is the one who messed things up, the club were told they needed a £30million deposit on the project and he didn't have it. Paul Gregg (who founded SFX) said he would put in Everton's share from his personal wealth and the club would buy it back from him plus interest, I think he called it a 'reverse mortgage'. Bill did not like the idea and the ship had sailed.
Also it's been said that the reason LCC gave Liverpool permission to build onto Stanley Park was because of Kings Dock offer as they didn't want to be seen giving preferential treatment. Now I don't know whether to believe that or not!
I saw the arena last week (I still don't know what its called - I think it's called the ACC arena but inside of that there is the Echo arena) at its opening and whilst it's big I think it would have been a squeeze to get 60,000 football fans in there! The traffic is a problem at the moment and the roadworks don't help. Incidentally I don't like the new bus terminal - it's miles from town.
I'm a romantic and whilst I'd like to see Kirkby stadium plans fall apart, the Scotland Road site would be my plan B and Goodison redevelopment my plan C.

You have very similar feelings as me, although redeveloping Goodison would be my plan A, the Scotland Road loop project would be my plan B whilst Kirkby would not be part of my plans in a milion years. Everton have gradually been shifted out of the city with or Accademy and Training complex being situated in the borough's Sefton and Knowsley respectively. Moving Stadium out of the city boundaries would be the final straw for me. KEIOC.

Some good news came out of KEIOC today..
Price Waterhouse Cooper have said that Everton are likely to receive ten times the income they will receive at Kirkby.
Warren Bradley is to meet North West Development Agency to see what grants are available to help with a full-feasibility report on a city centre stadium.

What do you feel about Faddy moving to Birmingham City? I feel a tad dissapointed over his departure but many wanted him gone. He is one of the most infuriating players at times but is a class act when he is in form and i for one wish him all the very best at St Andrews. I also fancy him to inspire the brum this afternoon against Chelsea if he makes the starting line-up and with Faddy at 8/1 with Ladbrokes to score the first goal of the game, is well worth a couple of pooonds of anyones money. Faddy first goal and 2-1 to Birmingham is an 80/1 shot.

To be honest, I'm not concerned by his sale. I just hope the money is put to good use, whether that's bringing a new player or paying off some of the creditors.
Motherwell received £650,000 of the money as they had a 12% sell on clause in his contract.
I wish him luck at Brum, but I don't see it as a mistake to sell him.

I dont feel it was a mistake in selling Faddy myself as we got a good profit out of his sale, also bringing in Manny on loan means that we have not lost out in numbers regarding squad size. Indeed we have added to the squad by signing young Dan Gosling from Plymouth. I do however feel we should be keeping players and building for the remainder of this season. Maybe Moysey will make additional signings and i feel he should with Yakubu, Yobo and Pienaar away for a month plus. The timing of Faddy's sale surprised me more than him actually signing for the Brum, afterall the Scot had a major role to play in the Uefa Cup. His goal against Metalist Kharkiv turned Everton's fortunes in the competition and i thank him for his contribution. He will get a great reception from me when he returns to Goodison with Birmingham, good luck Macca mate but i dont wish you that much luck when you play against Everton.

Seconded. Bramble really is awful at times. He had Johnson in his pocket defended long ball after long ball up to Everton's number 8, but once under slight pressure from a ball down the channel, bramble cracked. Everton's only major blip this season so far was the FA Cup exit, other than that, any Evertonian would never have imagined being in such a strong position this time of the year. Roll on Wednesday has you said, an evening were we may just unleash Fernandes.

Stephen,
How do you see our season going now? Can we stay into 4th and claim a UEFA Cup, or are both realistically out of our reach?

Great question Druryfire
I will start by saying despite us being dumped out of both the FA and Carling cups recently, our league form still has been very good. If the toffees can defeat an improving Spurs side tomorrow evening, then that would have been four straight wins in the league in January.
My wish for my beloved club for this season was to finish in the top six and have a good cup run. We currently lie in 4th and have had two good cup runs. Finishing 4th come may well be difficult but we faced that same scenario two years ago and shocked both the FA and UEFA by claiming a Champions League place. To further boost Everton's push for 4th, or at least the top 6, Yakubu, Yobo and Pienaar could well be back at Goodison sooner than we thought as both Nigeria and South Africa have their work cut out to remain in the African Cup of Nations.
Our flowing football as vanished of late as we have been mostly grinding out results, but again on a plus side, it shows Everton still maintain the togetherness and belief despite not playing great. A top 4 finish is still achievable, so too is progression in the UEFA Cup with Brann standing in our way for a potential tie against Fiorentina. As i stated earlier however, it is a big challenge ahead but Everton certainly have not fallen off the rails as yet as our 3 league wins out of 3 so far this month has proven.
Everton are certainly not the finished article, but progression is being achieved under David Moyes. The next level Everton have to get to is to get closer to the so-called "Big Four" clubs. Despite Everton playing well this season against Arsenal, Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea, only 1 single point as been won, that coming at the Bridge. Still, Everton have still had a good half to the campaign and i fully expect them to win more games than lose for the remainder of the season which should leave us in a healthy position.
