For the life of me, i can not understand certain recent sackings of Managers in England. Equally, i am astounded by the replacements. Mark Hughes has now become Manchester City boss replacing a man who i felt built a decent squad last summer. Ok, City faded during the second half of the season but Sven-Goran Ericsson is every bit as good a club manager as Mark Hughes. Owners of club sides are ruining the clubs they are supposedly looking out for, the man in question at City being that of Thaksin Shinawatra, a man who knows nothing about the game. Shinawatra claims Hughes has "achieved many things", i hope he was not refering to his managerial career because he has achieved nothing. How City fans will take to an individual with strong Manchester United connections remains to be seen but i feel many will be upset. Avram Grant's sacking may have been on the cards, but i still feel it was a terrible decision, the same could be said for Martin Jol's ousting. Grant at Chelsea was only given one season but in that time, he got them to the League Cup Semi-Finals, the Final of the Champions League and pushed Manchester United all the way in the Title race. Ok, his side where dumped out of the FA Cup by Barnsley, but my team Liverpool lost to them in the earlier round, finished 4th in the League and made no Finals but Benitez still remains at Anfield despite spending many millions. The mind boggles really. It's time for all of us to wake up and smell the coffee.
