Altintop a doubt for Euro 2008
March 27, 2008Hamit Altintop's participation in Euro 2008 has been thrown into doubt as the result of an injury he picked up during Turkey's 2-2 draw at Belarus on Wednesday.
The Bayern Munich midfielde is expected to miss the remainder of the season with a broken foot. He underwent surgery early on Thursday morning and the earliest he is expected to recover full fitness is in seven weeks time.
"It was a shock for me,'' coach Ottmar Hitzfeld said. "He was in great form recently.''
Altintop has developed into an influential midfielder for both club and country over the past twelve months and his loss will be felt keenly by both club and country.
