Inter’s Brazilian striker Adriano has played down reports linking him with a return to his homeland.

The 26-year-old has been left out of the Nerazzurri squad for the past five games after falling out with Inter coach Jose Mourinho.

The situation has led to speculation that Adriano will return to Brazil, but the forward says he is happy to fight for his place at Inter.

“I’m happy for my return with the national team and I’m living a positive moment of my career,” he told the Brazilian press.

“There is nothing that would link me to Brazilian football.

“I have had a problem and they decided to put me aside, but on Saturday I come back in the group and I hope to be able to continue my job.”

Despite these claims, Adriano has again admitted he would one day like to return to Flamengo – the club where he started his career.

“If I do not continue at Inter, then I will carry on elsewhere,” he added.

“Should I have to come back here then my priority remains with Flamengo – It’s my dream and I’ve never hidden it.”
