Dick Advocaat has been appointed the new manager of South Korea.

Advocaat replaces Jo Bonfrere after he resigned from his position last month, despite leading South Korea to next summer’s World Cup finals. But he came in for fierce criticism after a series of poor performances.

Advocaat has quit his role as United Arab Emirates coach to take up the role with South Korea.

Advocaat has now informed UAE Football Association that he intends to stand down and take up a role with South Korea in the hope of emulating compatriot Guus Hiddink who took them to the World Cup semi-finals in 2002.
