Brazilian striker Ailton is set to end a miserable six month spell in Turkey by signing for Hamburg.

Hamburg are prepared to pay Besiktas €500,000 euros to loan the 32-year-old Ailton until the end of the season with an option to buy the Brazilian in the summer.

Ailton made his name at Werder Bremen where his 28 goals helped the club to the league title.

He joined Shalke in July 2004 but a left for Besiktas after just one season in a deal worth €3.5m.

Ailton has failed to settle in Turkey and received a record club fine of €85,300 for being sent off in the league match with Sivasspor for trying to stamp on an opponent.
