Valencia’s David Albelda believes it is an ideal time to face Chelsea.

The Blues are still reeling from the departure of Jose Mourinho and with the club having failed to score a goal in the Premier League during the month of September, Abelda is confident that all three points are there for the taking.

Just one victory in five Premier League games does not bode well for Grant’s men, especially compared to Valencia’s run in La Liga.

“Now is a good time to play Chelsea. They have injuries and we are in a good run of form, especially in terms of results,” he said.

Last season Chelsea knocked out Valencia in the quarter-finals of the competition, but Albelda is confident that the midweek game at the Mestalla will have a different outcome.

“Last year we were very tired and not physically up for the challenge, but now things are very different,” he added.

“Things are a lot easier now. In football you are judged by results and since we won in Germany things have changed and we have a lot more faith in ourselves.

“The problems at the start of the season have been eradicated. When results are bad this is what usually happens as it is much easier to blame the coach.”
