After six successful seasons with Rangers, Lorenzo Amoruso is preparing to take advantage of FIFA’s recent rule change on nationality which would allow the Italian to play for Berti Vogts’ Scotland team.

Graeme Souness brought Amoruso to the Premiership last summer and despite starting only seven matches this season due to injury he could make a useful contribution for Scotland.

“I’ll need to speak with my family to see how they would feel about me changing nationality and maybe playing against Italy in the World Cup qualifiers,” said Amoruso who has only represented Italy at under 21.

Meanwhile Scotland are preparing to take on Wales in a friendly at the Millennium Stadium tomorrow night.
