Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed his delight at retaining David Beckham’s services for the rest of the season.

After talks with Beckham’s parent club LA Galaxy an agreement has been struck whereby the midfielder will stay in Milan until the end of the season before returning to Los Angeles.

Ancelotti has made no secret of his admiration for the player since his arrival in January.

“We are happy, very, very happy,” he told Sky Sports News.

Milan general manager Adriano Galliani was more cautious about the deal going through, but is confident it will soon be rubber-stamped.

“There are no updates but I am more optimistic,” Galliani told the Italian media.

“The Galaxy and us are going back and forward with corrections to the documents but we should be there although it’s not official yet.

“We are on the right path.”

However, Galliani would not predict when the deal would be signed.

“The crucial day for the signing could be perhaps today, tomorrow or Monday,” he said.

“But the important thing is that Beckham is here with us and that he is playing for Milan.”
