Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti hopes to prevent of his players from playing in next week’s international friendlies.

Italy face the Czech Republic in a friendly in Palermo on February 18, but Ancelotti believes the players require rest.

“We will do all we can to keep our players and not let them go for the friendly matches next week,” Ancelotti said .

“I am not talking only about the Italy team but all the national squads.

“The only period of time we have available, to allow them to rest, is when there aren’t games. If I was the national team coach I wouldn’t call them up.

“I have nothing against (Italy coach Giovanni) Trapattoni but we have players who need to follow carry out specific physical training.”
