Manchester City striker Nicolas Anelka has agreed a 3-1/2 year deal with Turkey’s Fenerbahce, the Istanbul club has confirmed.

City are prepared to take a loss on a player who cost them £10m when he joined in July 2002.

Fenerbahce said on its Web site that the contract included an option for a one-year extension, but it did not disclose further details of the deal.

“This contract was in line with Fenerbahce’s wishes and principles,” it said.

Manchester City said on their Web site that Anelka’s move would go through provided he passed a medical later on Monday.
