According to reports in Spain, Miguel Angel Angulo, one of the key figures in Valencia’s double winning team, could be on his way to England, after failing to agree terms on a new improved contract.

The Che have already suffered in a similar way this summer, with top goalscorer Mista feeling undervalued and now actively seeking a move away form the Mestalla. The man from Asturias could now look down the same road.

The talk is of a reunion with former Valencia coach Rafael Benitez, now in charge at Liverpool. Arsenal are also interested, according to Spanish paper ‘AS’.

In spite of the interest, and the position of the footballer, there is still not as yet a firm offer for the player.

Angulo’s agent confirmed that he wouldn’t open negotiation with other clubs until the matter was closed with Valencia. This will lead to a meeting early next week between agent Tamargo and Valencia director Llorente, in a last attempt by the club to hammer out a deal for Angulo.

Star winger Vicente has already stated that Valencia should do all within their powers to retain last season’s double-winning squad.

“For me, all the winners of the double must continue, regardless of the costs,” he said.
