Arsenal vice-chairman David Dein is “quietly confident” that Thierry Henry will sign a new deal with the club.

The 28-year-old striker has two years remaining on his contract and there have been siggestions that he may be tempted to quit Highbury.

Dein told BBC Radio Five Live: “We will be entering into negotiations very shortly. Everyone would like a Thierry Henry in their team.

“We intend to keep him. We will do everything we can to ensure he stays here until the end of his career.

“I am quietly confident he will remain here.

“Any time a player goes into negotiations, invariably, right at that moment, other clubs come into the mix to make life a bit more spicy.”
