Milan claim that Arsenal have contacted them to discuss the possible sale of Emmanuel Adebayor.

The Togo international has been the subject of much speculation this summer, with Spanish side Barcelona also expressing an interest in the forward.

However, Milan, who identified Adebayor as their number one transfer target for the summer, appear to be in poll position to sign the striker.

“Today Arsenal sent us a letter saying they were willing to talk to us about Adebayor,” Milan vice president, Adriano Galliani told Antenna3 television.

“The letter from Arsenal that says, ‘Following our communication of 13th June, in which we informed you we were not willing to deal over Adebayor, now we are writing to tell you that we will consider a deal if it still interests you’.

“If Adebayor decides to leave, Milan definitely want him but it is clear that if an offer arrives from Barcelona it would be difficult for him to say no.”

Milan had previously been put off by the Gunners’ valuation of the player, but have since undergone a change of heart.
