Arsenal midfielder Freddie Ljungberg could be out of action for a month after picking up a rib injury.

The Swede cracked a rib in Sunday’s 2-1 win over Manchester City and will miss Arsenal’s FA Cup and Premiership clashes with Chelsea.

“I got hit by a City player and it hurt like hell,” said Ljungberg.

“On Sunday night the pain was so bad that I needed to take some painkillers to enable me to sleep.”

The 26-year-old will also miss Sweden’s friendly against Albania in Tirana on 18 February, but he is hopeful of retrning to action foor first leg of Arsenal’s Champions League tie against Celta Vigo on 24 February.
