Arsenal are poised to complete the signing of Brazilian World Cup winner Gilberto Silva in a deal worth œ4.5million.
Silva, who played in all Brazil’s Word Cup matches, was made available for sale by his club Atletico Mineiroand will arrive in LLondon today to complete the deal.
Silva’s agent Paul Vilhena confirmed that his client was looking forward to playing in the Premier League.
“Gilberto is happy with the prospect of playing in England, he just needs to tie up a few things with the contract,” said Vilhena.
A spokesman for Mineiro added: “We’re expecting Gilberto’s transfer to be completed swiftly.”
