Brescia midfielder Jonathan Bachini has been banned for nine months after testing positive for cocaine.

The Italian Football League’s disciplinary commission revealed the suspension after Bachini failed a routine drug test after a Serie A match against Lazio on September 22.

Bachini, who has played once for Italy, denied ever using cocaine and claimed his drink was spiked.

Romanian striker Adrian Mutu was banned earlier this month by the English FA for seven months for cocaine use. He was also sacked by his club Chelsea. Last week Standard Liege’s Alexandros Kaklamanos was banned for five months for the same offence.
