Barcelona have confirmed they are interested in signing Celtic striker Henrik Larsson at the end of the season.

The news comes as the two sides prepare to meet in the first leg of the fourth round of the Uefa Cup at Parkhead on Thursday.

Barcelona vice-president Sandro Rossell told the Scottish Daily Express: “We like Henrik a lot but we will just have to wait and see what the summer brings.

“No-one seems to know where he wants to go but we are keeping a close eye on the situation and we may make a move.”

Meanwhile, Celtic will receive only 3,600 official tickets despite the club expecting at least 20,000 fans to travel.

A Celtic spokesman told the Daily Record: “We are working feverishly to get more tickets for our supporters.

“We realise that thousands of fans want to go to Barcelona and the club is desperate to ensure as many as possible get into the game.”
