Egyptian striker Ahmed ‘Mido’ Hossam says he will be leaving Ajax by the end of the year, with Barcelona his preferred destination.

The highly-rated 20-year-old striker confirmed speculation that he would be qutting Dutch football, when he declared: .”This is my last year at the Amsterdam Arena.’

“I have received a lot of offers from European top flight clubs and I might be in Barcelona’s Nou Camp next year,” Mido.

Mido, already an iconic figure in his homeland, was demoted to Ajax’s reserve team for a second time this season after the latest in a series of disputes with coaching staff.

Mido denied a claim by Ajax boss Ronald Koeman, that he had apologized to Ajax staff for derogatory remarks made to the Dutch press

“I did not apologize to anyone,” Mido said.

“If I apologize, it means I did something wrong and I did not.”

This season, Mido has scored 9 times in 16 games, making him the club’s leading marksman.
