Milan Baros has turned down an approach from French champions Lyon and insists he wants to stay at Liverpool.

The 23-year-old Czech Republic striker had been expected to leave Liverpool in the close-season, and with former Liverpool manager Gerard Houllier, now in charge at Lyon, a deal looked in the offing.

But Baros’ representative Dalibor Lacina said: “Milan’s decision has been made easier by the fact that Liverpool are playing in the Champions League.

“This is not a decision against Lyon – this is a decision for Liverpool.”
