Czech Republic striker Milan Baros looks set to miss his side’s final World Cup qualifier against Finland.

The Czechs need a win from the game if they are to claim the runners-up position behind Holland and earn a play-off place.

However, coach Karel Bruckner is unlikely to be able to call on Baros.

“Right now it’s looking more as though he [Baros] won’t play,” confirmed team doctor Petr Krejci.

The Aston Villa striker is suffering with an Achilles injury and Bruckner is expected to partner Marek Heinze with Jiri Stajner should Baros be absent.

“Everyone knows what is at stake, I am not worried about motivation,” said Bruckner.

“I have some alternatives. They’re getting narrower and narrower, but they are still there for now.”
