Basle have requested that their Champions League game against Spartak Moscow, scheduled to be played in the Russian capital next week, be moved to a neutral venue.

Basle asked for the switch because of the ongoing siege by Chechen separatists at a Moscow theatre.

UEFA have issued a statement, saying it would make a decision on Sunday evening.

‘Current events unfolding in Moscow have led UEFA to consider the postponement of the match due to possible security concerns,’ said the statement.

‘The match will then either be given the go-ahead and be played in Moscow or be postponed by one week and be played in Moscow or another venue in Russia, on 6 November.’
