Table-topping Man Utd head into their next league game against Wigan knowing in all their previous head-to-heads they’ve won them all!

Bayern Munich and AZ Alkmaar have reached an agreement for coach Louis van Gaal to join the German club at the end of the season.

Although Dutch TV station NOS report the deal has been signed Bayern general manager Uli Hoeness said the Dutchman’s move should be confirmed “within four or five days”.

Van Gaal, who previously worked with Ajax, Barcelona and the Dutch national team, won the Dutch Eredivisie this season with Alkmaar, their first title since 1981.

Having previously said he would not leave the club the 57-year-old appears to have been persuaded to take on the task of managing Germany’s biggest club and his close relationship with AZ chairman Dirk Scheringa has enabled him to leave the Dutch club.

Hoeness said: “We understand that he will become our head coach on 1st July. We will announce his move within four or five days.”

Bayern, who are second in the Bundesliga on goal difference behind leaders Wolfsburg, fired coach Jurgen Klinsmann in April and appointed Jupp Heynckes to take over for the rest of this season.
