Bayern Munich have appealed against Oliver Kahn’s one-match Champions League ban.

The goalkeeper was suspended for the quarter-final first leg against Milan after being found guilty of improper conduct for losing his temper during a drug test in the previous round.

Bayern have appealed to the Uefa Disciplinary Committee, but boss Ottmar Hitzfeld claims that, whatever the result, he has every faith in Kahn’s understudy, 22-year-old Michael Rensing.

“I wouldn’t have any problems bringing him in,” he told the German press. “He’s an excellent goalkeeper who has already played in several big games.”
