Bayern Munich general manager Uli Hoeness has revealed that they have made enquiries about Chelsea defender Robert Huth.

The 20-year-old has emerged as a possible central defender for Germany, despite being a peripheral figure at Chelsea this season.

Hoeness said: “We have spoken with Chelsea and his agent. We will look into it more when the time is right.”

Bayern are expecting to lose defensive trio Robert Kovac, Thomas Linke and Sammy Kuffour at the end of the season, and Germany’s national coach Jurgen Klinsmann has told Huth he must be a Chelsea regular if he is to represent his country at the 2006 World Cup finals.

Chelsea have Huth under contract until 2008 and the Premiership leaders have no intention of selling him at present.
