Bayern Munich have confirmed they are to sue the head of UEFA’s disciplinary service and another official, after a magazine report claimed the duo wrongfully accused the club of corruption.

Bayern said it pressed charges in Munich on Wednesday against Peter Limacher and fellow UEFA official Robin Boksic, based on a report in Germany’s Stern magazine.

“It will say in tomorrow’s edition of Stern that both persons have, with massive lies, greatly discredited football, slandering individuals, associations and football clubs, including FC Bayern Munich,” the statement read on Bayern’s official website.

Stern is reporting on its website that Boksic was the source of 2008 allegations that Russian crime figures manipulated a UEFA Cup match between Bayern and Zenit St. Petersburg. German prosecutors said they had no evidence to start an investigation.
