David Beckham is ready to commit his future to Real Madrid, according to reports.

The England captain met with club president Florentino Perez at the end of last season, and is set to openneegotiations which will keep him at the the club until 2009.

I’m playing for the best football club in the world and my desire is to continue to wear this shirt in the future,” Beckham told Marca.

“A big part of my decision to stay in Madrid beyond 2007, when my current contract ends, was my family, my wife and children, who love life in Spain and because of that I’m very happy at Real Madrid.

“Their support has been essential in planning our lives here. They’ve encouraged me a lot,’ he added.

“I feel very happy in Spain and at Real Madrid,” he said.

“I want to win titles with the club because just winning the (Spanish) Supercup isn’t enough. I want more and I hope to help in winning them.”
