Inter director Marco Branca has backed Rafael Benitez after the coach changed the tactics established by former coach Jose Mourinho in Sunday’s win against Palermo.
Jose Mourinho’s 4-2-3-1 was changed by Benitez to a 4-4-2 against Palermo, a switch which raised eyebrows in the Inter hierarchy. However, Branca has encouraged Benitez to continue with his innovations.
“The win brings with it Benitez’s hallmarks. The 4-4-2 has modified the squad, giving it the decisive input for victory,” Branca told Il Corriere dello Sport.
That claim was backed by Ernesto Paolillo, who also defended the club’s transfer policy over the summer.
“I think everyone should take another look at their opinions on our transfer dealings,” Paolillo told the press.
“We maintained the team that won everything. I think this gives a guarantee of quality and effort.”
