Argentine Carlos Bianchi is set to take over from Luis Fernandez as coach of Paris St Germain, according to reports in L’Equipe.

Rumours circulating in France suggest that Fernandez is about to be sacked because of of the club’s poor run of form ths season. The club did not win a domestic game throughout November and currently lie 10th, 7 behind leaders Lyon.

Alain Cayzac, vice-president of the club, is understood to be conducting negotiations with the53-year-old Bianchi, who played for the club back in the 1970’s.

Bianchi is best known for his spell in charge of Boca Juniors, who he led to successive Copa Libertadores victories in 2000 and 2001. He also coached Boca to success in the 2000 World Club Cup final. The achievements at Boca emulated earlier success at Velez Sarsfield where Bianchi led the club to Libertadores and World Club Cup success in 1994.
