Birmingham City boss Steve Bruce has confirmed that there is interest from Spain in Jesper Gronkjaer.

The Danish winger has struggled to make an impression at St Andrews since his £2.2 million from Chelsea in the summer.

“There have been a couple of Spanish clubs who have made enquiries,” admitted Bruce.

“They are both hoping to do something in January but, as yet, they have made no firm offers.”

The pair met this week and Bruce, after discussions with the club’s co-owners David Sullivan and David Gold, agreed it is the best way forward for the 27-year-old.

Atletico Madrid, who just missed out on his signing in the summer, are known to be one of the clubs interested.
