Bolton are still to hear whether Rivaldo will play for them next season, a week after the Brazilian returned home to make a decision on his future.

Bolton manager Sam Allardyce admitted he was unsure why Rivaldo had not given the club a firm answer.

“He hasn’t come back from Brazil and sat down with us so we just don’t know what the other factors might be,” Allardyce said.

“But certainly we won’t be offering any more money. We just won’t do that so he knows what the situation is.”

Rivaldo is a free agent after being released by Cruzeiro following his ill-starred spell with Milan.
