Wolves v Liverpool: Simon Hopper tips a high-scoring encounter for Saturday’s game at Molineux…

Sunderland manager Steve Bruce has confirmed an interest in signing Stephane Sessegnon from Paris St Germain.

Bruce is looking to bolster his attacking options after Darren Bent’s £18million move to Aston Villa and Sessegnon is one of his principal targets.

The 26-year-old Benin international has been linked with a move from PSG after reportedly refusing to train for the French outfit after falling out with manager Antoine Kombouare.

“Stephane can play in the middle, out wide or in a front three and he is a good player,” he told the club’s official website.

“It is ongoing but it has been going on for a couple of weeks now. We’re hopeful of getting something done.”

Bruce has revealed he is looking at “four or five” strikers following Bent’s departure.

But any signing will be a temporary measure, with Bruce insisting any big-money buy will have to wait until the summer.

“We will be careful and splashing big money now just isn’t going to happen,” he added.
